Patrick Fleenor is chief economist at the Tax Foundation. Previously he served as principal of Fiscal Economics, Inc., a Washington-based economic consulting firm specializing in taxation, and as a senior economist with the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress. Patrick has conducted research on a wide variety of federal, state, and local tax and budget issues, including the examination of alternatives to existing tax and budget regimes, entitlement policy and reform proposals, and the economic effects of various types of taxes. His research has often played a pivotal role in the policymaking process and has been cited in many publications including the Economist, Time, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, USA Today, and the Los Angeles Times. He has given hundreds of radio interviews and appeared on many national news programs including the major networks’ evening newscasts and CNN’s Moneyline Newshour. Patrick holds an M.A. in economics from George Mason University and an M.A. in political science from American University. He received his B.A. from Albion College where he majored in both economics and political science.
