Best of the Blogosphere: Transit Agencies, Tax Freedom Day, Alcohol Taxes, and Tax Holidays vs. TARP

More love for the Tax Foundation from editorial, economic and state-based bloggers:

• Michelle Chen of Viewsday, a blog from the opinion staff of Newsday, posts on the "Sale-In Lease-Out" (SILO) deals that have now put many city transit agencies on the verge of default, a subject Tax Counsel Joseph Henchman has been working on. Chen notes that "while public transit agencies may act as if they didn’t see trouble ahead when they brokered their contracts, they have at least found a safe and familiar road to Washington." (Martin Vaughn of the Wall Street Journal also reported on this subject earlier this week.)
• Adam of The Doomsday Report, a blog "monitoring the global financial meltdown," featured our Tax Freedom Day report yesterday.
• Marc Korman of Maryland Politics Watch bemoans a proposal to raise alcohol taxes in the Free State, citing our data on alcohol excise taxes. 
• King Banaian of True North, a center-right blog in Minnesota, argues against tax holidays and uses Staff Economist Josh Barro's previous blog post on TARP and tax holidays being apples and oranges.
