Bloomberg -- New Jersey's Corzine Offers Proposals to Lower Property Taxes

Corzine's speech kicked off an unprecedented special legislative session on property taxes, which have increased by an average of 6.5 percent a year for the past 20 years. New Jersey collected $2,099 per capita in property taxes in fiscal 2004, more than any other state and nearly double the national average, according to the Washington-based Tax Foundation.
