"Obama Pledges to Give Money to States"

The governors have asked Obama for at least a $40 billion boost in payments to cover Medicaid, the largest state-federal program that offers health insurance to the poor, elderly and disabled.
New Hampshire is one of the 10 income-wealthiest states, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and Tax Foundation, and pays 50 percent of Medicaid costs. The federal government already pays up to two-thirds of Medicaid in Mississippi and other income-poor states.
