Albany region among highest in U.S. in property taxes
Counties in the Albany, N.Y., region are among the top third in the country in terms of the average property tax bills their citizens pay, the Washington, D.C.-based Tax Foundation found in an analysis of Census Bureau figures.
Homeowners in Schenectady County paid the highest average annual property tax bill in 2005, at $3,251. That was the 79th most of the residents in the 775th most populous counties in the United States, the Tax Foundation said.
