Relief for big burden awaited

An analysis released Tuesday showed that Bergen and Passaic counties have some of the highest property taxes in the nation. The Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan education group, found that the property taxes in Bergen and Passaic ranked fourth and 11th, respectively, among the nation's high-density counties.

Bergen homeowners paid an average of $6,846 annually. In Passaic, the average was $6,210. Nine of 15 of the most expensive counties nationwide were in New Jersey.
