"Gun Sales Likely to Rise with Days of No Sales Tax"

The tax break, also known as the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, was tacked on to a bill passed by the General Assembly earlier this year. The bill established a tax-free month for energy efficient products next October.
The nonpartisan Tax Foundation research group said South Carolina is the first state to offer shoppers a tax break specifically on guns.
