The Council on State Taxation ranks Louisiana's tax structure among the nation's worst in being friendly to business. The group, funded by member businesses, gives the state a D.
The Tax Foundation, a non-profit group based in Washington, D.C., says Louisiana's state and local tax burden for businesses and individuals is much lower than the national average.
However, when only business taxes are concerned, the state's Business Tax Climate Index is slightly higher than the National Average, ranking Louisiana with the 33rd best business tax climate for fiscal year 2009.
