"A study released this week by the Tax Foundation, a non-partisan group that examines tax policy in Washington, D.C., found that the credit union income tax exemption will cost the federal government $31 billion over the next 10 years. The study suggests that eliminating the tax would level the playing field between banks and credit unions while also raising roughly $2 billion a year in additional tax revenue from credit unions and more profitable banks."
